Archeological exhibition
The spotlight of the exhibition is the enormous potter forge for firing ceramics. The valuable found of Kolomna archeologists dates back to the 17th century. The forge was discovered in the process of archeological excavations in historical part of the city in 2000. The found was made up of clay bricks, inside it there were pieces of crockery and toys. The setting-up of the forge with the help of powerful construction equipment took a day around the clock.
The museum of speed skating history
The museum of speed skating history of the Moscow Region Speed Skating Center «Kolomna» is the only one in Russia that the complete history of speed skating development in Russia from the very beginning till the present time.
The museum exposition opens with the history of sports in Russia, later moves on to the Moscow Region and Kolomna. The visitors will get to know how the ice tracks of Kolomna were built, how the Kolomna Speed Skating Center was reconstructed, how the youth Olympic reserve speed skating school «Comet» was opened and why Kolomna remains the traditional cradle for best Russian speed skaters development.
The museum of skates
The museum of skates is devoted to the history of the skates development from the moment of their creation up to present. First of all skates were used as means of quick moving, later they became an inherent part of pleasant time-spending and today – the major element of professional winter sports - speed skating, hockey and figure skating.
Of course in the museum the history of the speed skate is shown most vividly because the length of the tradition of its use and the results of speed skating sport are striking. Every time the time record in speed skating is beaten people say it will last for ages. However, it becomes beaten again and again due to development of skates.
